Judging cigars like it's the apocalypse!

What has happened??

I haven't been smoking much due to the fact that it's been so cold I have to break the smoke off the end of my cigar.  Anyways I have two new entries...

The Oliva Master Blend III Robusto

Now this cigar came to me with very high reviews and recommendations.  Supposedly this is the choice cigar of the Oliva family with a very limited number being released to the public.  This is the third year the master blends have been released, hence the roman numeral III.  Well lets hope this is the last...  This cigar started off very nicely; it looked great out of the box, smelled great before lighting, had a pleasant color and texture, it even had a pretty label. as I lit the nice nicaraguan stick, I noticed and immediate surge of... lets call it "flavor".  Mild to medium through the first third.  Then from out of nowhere came the "flavor" again.  Is that?  Could it be..... asphalt.  That is the best way to describe it. Asphalt and Windex were the only "flavors"  I could pick up for the remainder of this cigar.  Along with the tough draw as well as the constant touching up, I cannot call this cigar a pleasant experience.  You Oliva's must be a rugged bunch to choose to smoke these cigars.  I'm picturing a mix between vikings and Chuck Norris.......

The La Vieja Habana Chateau Corona.

Now this cigar had been in the old humidor for some time now.  This is one of the first "real" cigars I had ever smoked.  I literally enjoy each one as much as that first.  It's mild but very flavorful characteristics are well suited for new smokers, as well as you seasoned vets.  What I'm trying to say is this cigar has something for everyone.  With it's Corojo wrapper, Nicaraguan filler, earthy, woody, nutty flavors, effortless draw and beautiful ash, I think this may become one of your favorites as well.
P.S. This stick makes TONS of smoke.  I don't know the logistics behind it but DO NOT smoke it while driving.  Smoke it by the pool, with the sexy latino honeys looking on, because alot of cigar smoke is cool. I don't know why, but you know it is...

Welcome

I have been off work for almost a week now and the boredom has set in.  I have been smoking quite a few cigars this holiday season.  I have had the idea for this blog for some time now and this short hiatus from work as well as my increase in smoking has allowed me to make it happen.
So Here is my first Review...

The Nestor Reserve Box Pressed Maduro Torpedo.

I love this Cigar.  The box pressed-ness was a little weird to get used to at first, but as you smoke, it conforms to the regular round shape a cigar should be.  I am a big fan of maduro cigars and so far, this might be the king.  It has a bitter wrapper with a creamy, leathery, cologne-y taste, like a cup of black coffee after Christmas dinner.

The Gurkha Empire V

Yuck.  Being a fan of most Gurkha cigars, that is almost hard to say. This cigar came in the empire series of six cigars, all with different wrappers and flavors.  I am not a fan of most Connecticut wrapped cigars, so I had low expectations going in.  This cigar had little to no flavor, except a mild natural tobacco taste.  If you are a fan of milder smokes, this may be the one for you. Disappointed.

The Perdomo Inmenso

I received these fine cigars as a gift from a co-worker.  I kind of wrote them off as a novelty.  They have a massive 60 ring gauge and are 7" inches long.  They look like a cartoon characters choice smoke and equally ridiculous in your mouth.  So after a few choice beverages at the Christmas party, I lit one of these fat boys up and was I surprised!  It was mild to medium bodied with a nice corojo wrapper and didn't taste half bad!  As the cigar developed, I was greeted with hints of pepper and a pleasant earthy flavor. The only downfall is that it took damn near two hours to smoke!  Buy a box, call up the boys, get out the cards, and enjoy the hell out of this monster!
